VSP (Vision Service Plan), based in Sacramento, is the nation's largest eye care benefits provider with over 44 million members. It's also consistently ranked as one of the best places to work in the country. This year VSP Ranks #7 on Fortune Magazine's 2006 List of '100 Best Companies to Work For.' This is their seventh consecutive year on the list. Jeffrey Callison speaks with Roger Valine, VSP's Chief Executive Officer, about how he makes his company a great place to work.
Lawrence Lee is President and CEO of the online edition of the Sacramento Observer, the weekly paper serving Sacramento's African-American community. He talks about the challenges the paper faces, and the advances they are making. "Often times," Lee says, "things that are important in the black community are not mentioned, whereas papers like ours and other ethnic press cover issues with a lot more depth and sensitivity."
